Music by The Piano Brothers

That laugh. You could spot Swanny a mile away because of his laughter. It didn’t even matter if you thought the joke was funny, his laugh was so contagious that you couldn’t help but join him. Swanny’s humor defined him. His family and friends would give anything to hear that laugh one more time.

Cancer may have taken his body, but it couldn’t beat his soul. Eric fought the battle with courage, strength and the will to live for the love of his life, Carrie, and two children, Holden and Carlin. Eric took great pride in his family and the life they built together.

Eric, 45, was born August 23, 1970. He grew up in Massillon and graduated from Perry High School. He studied political science at the University of Akron, and continued his education by receiving his master’s in public administration and urban studies  in 1999. Eric was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon at the University of Akron  “Not for wealth, rank or honor but for personal worth and character.”

He was passionate with every challenge he faced. His latest pursuit was working at Phreesia as a senior business systems analyst in New York.

Eric passed away February 23, in Carrie’s loving arms and comfort of his family.  He is survived by his wife, Carrie Clemetson Swanson; children, Holden and Carlin (children’s mother - Amy); mother, Marilyn Swanson and partner Jimmy Pinegar; brother, Christopher Swanson (Linda); nieces and nephews: Paige Swanson, Parker Swanson, Conner, Audrey, and Natalie Maloy (Mike and Robin), Elizabeth, Timmy, and Tyler Maloy (Carrie & Tim). He was a brother to so many.

Calling hours will be from 2 to 5 pm, Saturday, with a 4 pm Memorial Service officiated by Father G. David Bline at Hennessy Funeral Home (corner of York and Main) 552 N. Main St., Akron.

Memorial donations may be made to: Debbie's Dream Foundation 9110 W State Rd 84, Davie Fl 33324.
