Mary attended Forest Hill Elementary School, then Jennings Junior High School, and graduated from Akron North High School on D-Day June 6th, 1944. She was an active member of Blessed Trinity Church (formerly St. Martha’s Church her whole life. As a homemaker, she devoted her life to her family as a loving, supported wife, nurturing mother, and later a caring grandmother. It was not uncommon to see her delivering loaves of bread to family and friends on a weekly basis.
After raising her children spending time with many of her grandchildren, Mary worked for over a decade at the Akron Public Library in downtown Akron. She enjoyed bowling, square dancing with her husband Joe, sister Reff, and her husband’s brother Sam.
Mary also enjoyed playing cards, and many challenging board games. All of her grandchildren will remember her for playing “greedy” with them and for singing “you are my sunshine” as she rocked them to sleep. Mary’s home was always one of peace, love, and signature dishes of many kinds.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Joe; her daughter Anne; sisters, Madeline, and Reff; and her brothers, Pat, and Mike.
She is survived by her sons, Joe (Peggy), Jim (Linda), Tom (Diane); and many grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
