Barbara M. House

Barbara M. House, 79, of Akron, passed away peacefully with her family at her side, Sunday afternoon, April 23, 2023.  As a devoted and loving mom and grandma, she placed her faith and family at the center of her life.

Born in Akron, on August 15, 1943 to Nicholas and Catherine Crano.  Barb graduated from St. Vincent High School as valedictorian class of 1961.  She married James C. House and started her family.  Barb went on to study nursing at The University of Akron. 

After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, she went on to work at Cuyahoga Falls General Hospital, where she retired after 30 years.  Following retirement, she committed her service to others as a Halo Nurse at Akron General Hospital.  She was a lifelong, devoted member of Blessed Trinity Parish (St. Martha Parish).

Predeceased by her parents and recently deceased sister Martha Roznowski; Barb is survived by her brother Richard (Randy) Crano and sister Teresa (Jeff) Purcell, her children Lisa House Burns of Akron (David Burns of Springfield), Marcia (Paul) Hoosic of Jackson Township, Nora (Ralph) Petz of Akron, and Tim (Jennifer) House of Akron.  Also surviving are her grandchildren Zoey Hoosic and Riley Helline.  She is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and many wonderful close friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 am Friday April 28, 2023 at Blessed Trinity Church, 300 E. Tallmadge Ave. Akron.  Friends will be received from 4 to 7 pm Thursday at Hennessy Funeral Home (corner of York and Main) 552 N. Main St. Akron and one hour prior to Mass Friday at the Church.  Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery.
