James H. Dickey Jr., 95, passed away peacefully January 18, 2015.

He was the oldest of ten children, born on March 6, 1919 to the late James Sr. and Ruth (Duncan) Dickey in Wellsville, Ohio. He graduated from Salem High School. After his service in the U.S. Navy during World War II he went to work for the City of Akron Water Department and General Tire Rubber Company, retiring from both jobs after 30 years of service. He was a long time member and head usher at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church.

Jim was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 69 years, Mary Alice (Riley), who he dearly missed; sisters, Ruth and Margaret; brothers, George, John, Tom, Edward and Bill. He is survived by his loving children, Jean, Mary Jane, Jim (Pat), Susan (Steve) Clark and Bill (Jo); wonderful grandchildren, Stacey (John) Yanak, Jamie (Lisa), Elyce (Matt), Jessica (Jason), Paul (Angela) and Brian Clark, Emily (Greg) Palmer and Philip; his sweet great-grandchildren, Allyson, Alaina and Nolan Yanak, Ethan Joyner, Tristan Zeman, Rachel and Vincent Palmer, Jayana and Janaya Fitzgerald; sister, Mary Jayne; brother, Frank; sisters-in-law, Jean Karg and Loretta Dickey.

The family would like to thank Heather Knoll for their compassionate care.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Blessed Trinity Church, 300 E. Tallmadge Ave., Akron 44310. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m., WEDNESDAY, at Hennessy Funeral Home (corner of York and Main), 552 N. Main St., Akron.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Blessed Trinity Church.
