She graduated from North High School in Akron in 1940. She was employed by The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company for 30 years in the Real Estate Department, and she retired in 1988.

Bernadine was a very kind and gentle person. She was very devoted to her family. She lived on North Hill in Akron and in Tallmadge for 86 years before moving in 2009 to live with her sons in Henderson, Nevada due to health reasons. Church was very important in her life. She really loved gardening and yard work. She also enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune, feeding and watching wild birds, doing crossword puzzles, and eating at Parasson's Italian Restaurant. She was a very avid fan of all Cleveland sports teams and especially loved the Browns and LeBron James of the Cavs.

She was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband, Robert Nevitt; and by her brother, Joseph Smanto. She is survived by her two sons, Harry Kolody and Michael Kolody, both of Henderson, Nevada. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Whitney of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; brother-in-law, Warren Whitney of Cuyahoga Falls; and several nieces and nephews.

I cannot remember a time of not knowing Bernie. All of my memories of her are kind and good and I fondly recall her quiet way of living in our little neighborhood and her words of encouragement after my father died.
She was the anchor of her family, a wonderful, loving mother to "her boys" and a friend to all who knew her. Her very presence in this world will be missed but, because she was a believer in the birth, life and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ we can rejoice in knowing that her spirit now lives at perfect peace in a perfect place. To be absent from her body is to be present with her Lord. My heartfelt sympathies for Harry and Mick who were blessed to have such a wonderful mom.
