Our dear Aunt/Sister Norma D. Garvin went to be with the Lord on February 18, 2017 after a lengthy illness at Akron General Cleveland Clinic Medical Center.
She was a native of Akron and was a retired school teacher for Stow City Schools where she taught 3rd and 4th grade. She received her Master of Education Degree at the University of Akron. She was the organist/ pianist at a number of area churches. She enjoyed traveling, shopping, and, was active in community events. She also enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice H. Garvin. Norma is survived by her niece and nephew, Theresa and Rick Dutton; sister, Jeanie Hannaman of Youngstown, Ohio; nephew, Victor Roman (wife Linda) of Green Valley, Arizona; great-nephew, Christopher (wife Chrissy) Dutton of Villa Hills, KY; great-great-nephew and great-great-niece, James and Paisley Dutton of Villa Hills, KY; great-nephew, Samuel Johnson of Tucson, Arizona; niece, Jeanne Johnson of Tucson, Arizona; and great-niece, Sarah Johnson of Tucson, Arizona.
Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, February 22, at 11:00 AM at Hennessy Funeral Home, 552 N. Main St., Akron (corner of York and Main). Friends will be received one hour prior to the service from 10-11:00 AM on Wednesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or your favorite charity.
