ROBERT E. (BOB) TREVATHAN
May 11, 1928--September 28, 2016
Robert E. (Bob) Trevathan passed away peacefully after a long illness on September 28, 2016. He was a very proud man. He was proud of his service as a US Marine in the Korean war from 1946 to 1953, and he was proud of his service as an Akron Police officer for 33 years, 7 months and 1 day (as he would tell it). But most of all, Bob was proud of his family; his daughters, Beth and Becky, and his four grandsons, Matthew, David, Ryan, and Evan. Bob enjoyed singing, and had a smooth bass voice. He sang with the choir at St. Andrew's Episcopal church for 30 years. In his early years, he was the lead vocalist with the Patsy Pace Orchestra. He was an avid reader, usually reading three books at a time until his eyesight failed. He was also a devoted gardener, and could never give up on a plant, no matter how scrawny or past its prime.
Bob leaves his beloved wife of 54 years, Beverly (Williams); daughters, Beth (Bill) Britton, Becky (Anthony) Feora; and grandsons, Matthew and David Britton, and Ryan and Evan Feora. Bob will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Opal Trevathan.
Calling hours will be from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM Sunday at Hennessy Funeral Home (corner of York and Main), 552 N. Main St., Akron.
Mass of the Resurrection will be at 10:00 AM Monday, at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 765 Thayer St., Akron, with the Rev. Debra Q. Bennett officiating. Inurnment will be at Ohio Western Reserve Natioanal Cemetery at 2 PM on Monday.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob's name may be made to the Summit Choral Society (www.summitchoralsociety.org, 330-434-7464).
