Tomasz Wyszynski (age 95) passed away June 10, 2016 after a battle with cancer.
He was born to Bronislawa & Franciszek Wyszynski in Poland on September 22, 1920. At the age of 19, was sent to a Russian labor camp in Siberia which he endured for 22 months. Upon his release, he joined the Polish Army, and then was shipped to England where he served with the 316th Squadron Spitfires of the Polish Air Force attached to the Royal Air Force until 1945. In 1948 he settled in Akron, Ohio. He opened a barber shop which he operated until 1965. Tomasz joined the Polish National Alliance in 1949 and began a lifetime career with the organization. He served as Lodge Financial Secretary, Commissioner, Lodge Delegate to the National Convention, and PNA National Director for Ohio, West Virginia, and Florida. He was also a member of the Polish Roman Catholic Union, Alliance of Poles, Polish Legion of American Veterans Post 32 in Akron and Post 203 in Cleveland, United Polish Council of Summit County, and the Polish American Citizens Club. He worked tirelessly for Polonia and received many honors for his dedication.
Tomasz loved hunting, fishing, and working with wood. He always had time for family and friends which he loved dearly.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Marianna; by children Janette (Bob) Stender, Sandra (RJ) Button, Michael Wyszynski, John (Ramsey) Wyszynski, and Barbara (Don) Roman; 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 am Tuesday at St. Anthony All Saints Parish Catholic Church, 1530 11th St. SE, Canton, OH 44707. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Massillon. Friends will be received from 4 to 8 pm Monday at Hennessy Funeral Home (corner of York and Main) 552 N. Main St. Akron, OH 44310. The procession will form at the church on Tuesday.
