Charles F. Wheeler, 86, died June 13, 2018, after a short illness. He was born September 27, 1931, the tenth of eleven children and he lived in Akron all of his life.
He graduated from West High School and joined the Army, where he was stationed in Austria and Germany. He worked as a truck driver and foreman for Baumgardner Burial Vault Co. for 45 years, retiring in 1996. Charlie bowled in a league for many years, he enjoyed gardening, fishing and watching the Cleveland Browns, Cavaliers and Detroit Tigers baseball.
Preceded in death by Kay, his wife of 51 years and his grandson, Allen Hout, Charlie is survived by daughters, Linda (Ken) Street and Cindy (Mike) Hout; son, Chuck Wheeler; grandchildren, Jennifer, Sara, Kevin and Eric; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff of Maplewood at Cuyahoga Falls Senior Living.
Funeral Services will be Tuesday, June 19, at 11 am at Hennessy Funeral Home (corner of York and Main), 552 N. Main St., Akron. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. Friends will be received from 5 to 8 pm, Monday, June 18, at the funeral home.
