Carmella Rose (Germano) Kozar

"TOGETHER AGAIN"

Carmella Rose (Germano) Kozar, 96, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 17, 2017.

She was born January 1, 1921, in Akron to the late Antonio and Angelina Germano. She was a lifelong resident of North Hill. She worked as a cook at Dontino's Restaurant for 33 years and retired at the age of 88. She loved her job, her co-workers and really enjoyed when the customers would stop in the kitchen to say hello to her. She was a dedicated member of St. Anthony of Padua Church and a member of the Ladies Sicilian Auxiliary Club. She enjoyed dancing with her husband, Nick, playing cards with her friends, spaghetti dinners at the Italian Center and spending time at county fairs where she touched the lives of many. She loved to cook for her family, especially on Sundays and the holidays. She was proud of her Italian heritage and instilled it in her family.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Nick; brothers, Domenic, Sam, Joseph; sister, Josephine Badalucco and granddaughter, Erica Carter. She is survived by sons, Nick, Steve (Karen), John and Pete; grandchildren, Lori Kozar, Lynn Hendershot, Sebastian (Dawn) Kozar and Lisa (Aaron) Leonino; great-grandchildren, Carly, Joshua, Dominic, Jenson, Caitlyn, Maria Carmella and Gianna; and many special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends whom she loved dearly.

She had a fun and feisty personality with a heart of gold and would do anything to help her family and friends. She will be greatly missed.

The family would like to thank all the wonderful friends and family that helped care for her these last several years.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Anthony Church, 83 Mosser Place Akron. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends will be received from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hennessy Funeral Home, 552 North Main St. Akron.01/01
